Public Relations Internship

We are looking for two public relations interns to join our company. In this role, you will be working closely with the Board of Directors to assist with determining the PR needs, writing  media releases, scheduling PR events, conducting research, and more. This is an opportunity for students to hone their interpersonal and communication skills with a wide network of people.

To be a successful PR intern, you are willing to put in the time and effort to become a confident public speaker, and have the curiosity and desire to disseminate information. On behalf of the company, you should be able to build relationships with the media and suppliers of marketing material, while constantly looking for ways to boost Berkeley Pharma Tech’s corporate image.

Public Relations Intern Responsibilities:

• Supporting the Director in implementing the company’s PR strategy

• Creating engaging content for media releases, social media platforms, and newsletters

• Updating and maintaining the company’s social media pages

• Building relationships with clients and potential clients, suppliers, and the media.

• Providing assistance to the Director with the scheduling and organizing of events.

• Giving input on marketing initiatives and suggesting creative ways to improve the company’s public image

• Conducting research on marketing initiatives of the company’s competitors

• Monitoring of media coverage on events and media releases that were issued and creating press clippings

• Updating media lists

• Performing administrative duties

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

• Enrollment in a BA or BSc degree in public relations, communication, journalism, or a related field.

• Excellent understanding of various social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram.

• Efficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

• Basic budget management skills to track spending on sponsorships, events, and marketing material.

• Comfortable with public speaking and engaging with stakeholders.

• Good research and analytical skills.

• The ability to prioritize your workload and keep to strict content deadlines.

INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTION:

Members of our editorial team will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and quality of Berkeley Pharma Tech’s written materials. A few of your main duties will include preparation of journal copies from production to publication, copyediting/proofreading, and trafficking of proofs. Editors should possess creativity, attention to detail, and an ability to work well with others. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about writing and have held previous writing roles. It is preferred that candidates are familiar with scientific writing as most of your work will be for our Journal of Medicine.
 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

• be pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in any area of biology and/or journalism with relevant subject matter expertise/experience

INTERNSHIP Description:

Berkeley Pharma Tech is seeking a part time research college interns to participate in our Medical Research Bootcamp. Interns will be divided into groups of 3 or 4, and each group will receive a different challenge for the semester (earlier applicants get first choice). They will be working with the team and closely with the Director to research and innovate a new medicine that can be used to treat current diseases. If the research is successful, Berkeley Pharma Tech can assist the team in transforming into a startup, where the team members will be at the forefront of innovation and have the chance to work with industry experts.

This position is responsible for reviewing the current literature on PubMed, attending relevant webinars, technical writing, and other tasks as assigned. The ideal candidate for this position has demonstrated commitment to the medical research career path, with an interest in eventually pursuing an MD/PhD in biomedical research, bioengineering, chemistry or a relevant field. He/She is not content with the status quo within the STEM field, is an ambitious problem solver, and is constantly coming up with innovative ideas. The ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment is critical.

This position offers a significant level or responsibility and an opportunity for growth to an ambitious individual seeking to begin a career in biomedical research. Some of the medical challenges this position might be tasked with will include finding a new treatment for diabetes, slowing down cellular degeneration and more. In addition, leadership opportunities are available for those who have had successful prior experience.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Conduct research on PubMed and other scholarly databases

• Conduct literature searches and other independent research

• Innovate and brainstorm ideas relevant to the topic

• Assist with coordinating project activity and communicating with the BizDev team

• Assist with preparing project reports, memos, presentations, and proposals

• Perform other duties as assigned

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

• High-school degree is preferred

• Currently enrolled in Biology, Molecular and Cell Biology, Bioengineering, or relevant courses

Join our growing biotech startup as a software engineer intern. Our team at Berkeley Pharma Tech takes pride in fostering biotechnological innovation to better the environment. Our approach is the employment of CRISPR technology in redwood trees to maximize their CO2 absorption, and with our carbon credits and CRISPR token, achieving net-zero is within reach. Recently we have started building an NFT community to fight climate change. The interns’ main responsibilities will include building the code and deploying our CRISPR Net-Zero NFT project online. This is a great opportunity to work with like-minded individuals with backgrounds in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, and Computational and Applied Mathematics.
